ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION
The required annual membership meeting of the Hawthorn Park Home Owners Association took place last evening, December 8, 2011, at 7:00 PM at Palma Sola Botanical Park. With the combined attending members and proxies there was more than enough representation for business to be conducted. In contrast to previous Annual Meetings, this one was rather tame. Committee reports were given and new members were elected as three members terms were expiring. See below for more information.
NEW HOMEOWNER’S DIRECTORY
Members attending the Annual Meeting received copies of the of the updated homeowner’s directory. This year’s directory is dedicated to Jeannie Ladd who produced the directory for many years. Jeannie passed away earlier this year. An insert in the directory reads as follows:
In Memory of Jeannie Ladd
She could be called a Hawthorn Park “original”. As the sales agent for Neal Communities, the developer of Hawthorn Park, Jeannie Lad not only was instrumental in helping new owners to select the home that was right for them, but she became a friend as well as a neighbor. Those friendships became stronger over time and spread to newcomers who were welcome to Hawthorn Park.
As the sales agent, the job of publishing the directory of homeowners fell to Jeannie, and she never asked to be relieved of that duty. For almost 20 years, Jeannie gathered data about new owners, maintained the database, prepared the latest edition for printing and distributed the finished product – a big job with lots of responsibility for accuracy.
We are grateful for the job Jeannie did so well with so little fanfare. But mostly we are thankful to have had her in our lives. We miss our faithful friend and wonderful neighbor.
This year’s directory was produced and distributed by Kathy Lesjak who is to be commended for doing an excellent job. If you were not at the meeting, your directory may have been picked up for you by a neighbor. Please check with your neighbors before calling Kathy who still has a few unclaimed copies. Her number is 795-3795. Michele Hogan has agreed to do next year’s directory so if you have any changes that need to be made please phone her at 795-4190.
CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE BRANNONS’
Our neighborhood Christmas Party will be on Saturday, December 10. Art and “B” Brannon at 9102 12th Avenue NW will be our hosts. The party begins at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully, the amount of snow will be minimal. If you plan to attend, please bring a “finger-food” type dish to share. This party is a BYOB affair. The Social Fund will provide sodas and water. Please RSVP to Peg Mazza at 794-3898.
FRONT ENTRANCE DECORATIONS
I think everyone will agree that the decorations at the front entrance look fantastic. We have Len & Marilyn Sirotski, Gil Pierola Jr., Mike & John Colleary, and Peg Mazza to thank for a job well done. If you would like to help take everything down on Jan. 6th, please meet at the front entrance at 10:00 AM.
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Three board members term’s expired this year: Mike Hogan, Sean Simpson, and Tyler Linkenhoker. Mike and Tyler agreed to run again. We thank Sean for his service to the community. There was one nomination from the floor, Briana Francois, who is a new resident, to Hawthorn Park. Since there were three openings and only three individuals running, a vote was not required. Thanks to all three for helping to keep Hawthorn Park one of the finest communities in NW Bradenton.
OTHER INFORMATION
American flags are available from Len Sirotski for only $1.00 each, 761-3324.
Trees in your yard are your responsibility. The association will take care of those on common ground.
The social/activity fund is in good shape especially after the sale of hot dogs during the garage sale thanks to the Pierola’s.
