TOPICS DISCUSSED:
Financial Report -- $60,138 bank balance. YTD surplus of $1,182. $1,966 in unpaid assessment. 3 liens were filed on 4/29/2010.
Activities Fund -- Balance is $556. Approximately $30 paid to George Sinclair for Community Garage Sale ad placements. No new deposits have been made since the end of the Hawthorn Herald with its advertising and the Picnics with their 50/50 Raffles. Frank predicted that the Activities Fund would last about two more years at current spending rates with no new deposits.
Social Activities -- Picnic not held due to lack of community interest. Next scheduled activity is Ladies Social in October.
ARC -- No ARC issues. Susan walked the community last week. Letters have been sent to people with problem lawns not meeting standards. Fining Committee may be needed.
Landscaping / Common Grounds -- Jaime completed the landscape project at the front entrance. He has been paid. Consensus that it looks great!
SWFWMD Issue With Big Front Pond -- We are in a holding pattern with SWFWMD. Not expecting to start the construction project until Spring, 2011.
Lease Policy -- No changes to the Lease Policy were made.
New Neal Development / Zoning Change -- DCA (Tallahassee) sent a technical response to the Manatee County Commission. DCA determined four issues that must be resolved before the rezoning can move forward. The consensus at the meeting was that the issues are severe enough to kill the rezoning and the potential Neal development.
Dirty Mailboxes -- Many mailboxes are dirty and moldy and need cleaning. Several are *really* bad. Art to highlight this issue in the next NewsFlash to encourage a Memorial Weekend mailbox clean-up!
Mailbox Scrollwork -- Board authorized Len Lesjak to buy 4 scrollwork pieces to maintain a local inventory for fast repairs when needed by Association Members. Broken mailbox scrollwork can be exchanged through Len with a fee of approximately $75, which will be turned back to the Board.
Tree Trimming on Common Grounds -- The 2005 Common Grounds Guidelines were briefly reviewed. Except for the front entrance work, common grounds tree trimming has been postponed in anticipation of the cost of the front pond repair. The Common Grounds Guidelines are now on this web site. [CLICK HERE]
