Annual Meeting of the Membership of the Hawthorn Park Homeowner Association
Please note: These are not the official meeting minutes. The official minutes are recorded by the Property Manager, and are archived at the offices of Sentry Management.
BOARD ATTENDEES: Tyler Linkenhoker, Ray Dalto, Ray Flock
Property Manager explained: 1) the Board decided to switch from a 7-member Board to a 5-member Board, 2) a quorum of Board members is not required at a Membership meeting, and 3) a quorum of members had been attained for this meeting.
President's Report -- Tyler shared some recent events, mentioned the Board vacancies, and mentioned the need to work the cable TV issue.
Grounds Report -- Ray Dalto reported a need for $700 for mulch (needed annually), and about $1,300 for the removal of a dead oak tree at the corner of 91st and 92nd, which is on common ground. Unclear if the oak tree will be replaced or not. Suggestion made from the floor to replace the tree because of the positive impact trees have on the appearance of the neighborhood. No decisions were made; the Board will discuss further and decide what shall be done.
Elections -- The term of office for three Board Directors is expiring: Brianna Francois, Mike Hogan, Tyler Linkenhoker. Mike and Brianna moved / are moving away, Tyler ran for re-election. Also, Peg Mazza and Floyd Edler were nominated from the floor. Elections were held to select two of three candidates. Peg and Floyd prevailed. The 2016 Board of five Directors are:
Ray Dalto (2015/2016)
Floyd Edler (2016/2017)
Ray Flock (2015/2016)
Peg Mazza (2016/2017)
Mike Sandstrum (2015/2016)
Other Discussion:
Social Activities Fund -- Ray D reported it stands at about $1,400.
Christmas Party -- Peg is seeking volunteers ASAP to staff a planning committee. The event is scheduled for FRIDAY DEC 18th at the Palma Sola Botanical Park (unless someone quickly comes forward to offer their home).
Coyotes -- Continue to be a problem. Howling is frequently heard. Problem not localized only to Hawthorn Park.
Holiday Lights -- Ray Dalto requested volunteers to help put them up at the front entrance. Need at least one person who is confident on a ladder.
Street Lights -- FPL owns the street lights. Anyone seeing one that is burned out should get the pole number (on the telephone pole) and phone it into FPL. The Board has no authority over FPL. Floyd agreed to call FPL regarding the burned out street light on 9th Avenue at the entrance.
Cable TV Contract -- Tyler said we should be able to get this resolved within six months if we can muster the involvement of the membership to make it happen.
2016 Budget -- After years of dues remaining at $1000/year, 2016 will see an increase of $64.86. Suggestion from the floor to absorb the $64.86 from the Reserve Fund. Tyler explained the Reserve Fund stands at about $16,000, and the Board takes a conservative stance in order to avoid any future Special Assessments.
The Membership Meeting was adjourned, and the new Board held an organizational meeting.
