BOARD ATTENDEES: Floyd Edler, Ray Dalto, Peg Mazza, Mike Bazzy, Jason Fitzsimmons, Pat Whitesel
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT: Stephanie Tirado
President Pat called the meeting to order. Minutes to the previous meeting were approved unanimously.
Mike gave the financial report. Year-to-date, income is over budget and expenses are under budget, for a net positive impact of $6,200 under budget. Legal expenses are way down. There are four delinquent accounts, grand total of $1,149. Late letters have already been sent. Board voted to send a second notice by registered mail with intent to lien if payment not received within 10-days.
Mark from BrightHouse Networks made a presentation. He explained that BHN has been notified that the Board intends to negotiate a new contract rather than extend the current contract by two years. This is BHN offer:
$42.95 (per home per month with tax), which is $3 more than current pricing. (Cost will be included in Association dues.)
One digital set-top-box (STB) would be included, bringing 350 channels plus pay per view and the option for pay channels.
The current 70-channels of analog programming would continue for TVs without the STB.
Additional STBs beyond the first are optional, at $8 per month.
A DVR STB is $12 per month.
Customers desiring the bundle will get 25 Mb/s internet for $34 (modem included), and digital voice phone for $15 per month.
78-percent of Hawthorn Park homes are already paying for an STB, and most of these will see their total costs go down about $12 per month.
BHN is offering a 5-year contract, with right to raise the price up to 5-percent per year after the first year.
Charter Communications is taking over BHN, and Mark is unaware of any planned changes.
The Board had contacted Verizon to get their offer, but Verizon was non-responsive.
The Board voted unanimously to accept the BHN offer. BHN will be sending a letter to each home explaining the new digital service, how to get the STB installed, and how to purchase additional services or bundles.
Chris Petrakopoulos made an appeal to the Board to reconsider the restrictions her family has been living under since the court order. The Board and Mary Hawk, who was the Board's counsel at that time, explained that the restrictions were court-ordered and the matter is outside the Board's authority to change.
Wendy Edler has been serving as our neighborhood greeter of new Hawthorn Park residents. Wendy requested that new residents please contact her to get a directory and to provide information for the upcoming 2017 directory. Wendy shared that Rich Bonneau is maintaining the master list for the directory.
The community Garage Sale is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 5th.
The Board is planning a budget meeting for Thursday, November 3rd.
A 7th member for the Board is still needed. Someone has been approached and is considering the position.
