Please note: These are not the official meeting minutes. The official minutes are recorded by the Property Manager, and are archived at the offices of Sentry Management.
BOARD ATTENDEES: Floyd Edler, Ray Dalto, Peg Mazza, Mike Bazzy, Jason Fitzsimmons, Pat Whitesel
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT: Merry Potter
President Pat called the meeting to order. Minutes to the previous Annual Meeting were approved unanimously.
Financial Report: Mike reported expenses $8,000 below budget for the year, and there is $24,000 cash on hand.
Recognition: Pat recognized Ray Dalto for his long and faithful service to Hawthorn Park's Association. Ray thanked everyone for the applause and explained that he enjoys his duties on the Board. Peg recognized Rich Bonneau for his hard work to produce an exceptional neighborhood Directory. Rich brought labeled copies to the meeting. If you did not attend the meeting perhaps a close neighbor or friend grabbed yours to deliver to you.
Elections: Mary Hawk interpreted the official HOA documents to require either 5 or 7 Board Directors. There are currently 6. A show of hands in the room indicated a clear preference for a 7-member Board. Of the current 6 members, 4 are required to stand for re-election if nominated, and all 4 were. Additionally, there were 2 nominations from the floor. Thus, 6 candidates for 5 open positions. It was decided that the 4 of 5 elected with the most votes will serve 2-year terms, and the 5th would serve one year. Please welcome our new Board of Directors:
Term expires 12/31/17: Pat Whitesel, Peg Mazza, Floyd Edler
Term expires 12/31/18: Ray Dalto, Mike Bazzy, Jason Fitzsimmons, Cliff Anderson
Cable TV: Although we have long understood our current bulk contract to expire 12/31/16, the letter from Brighthouse (now Spectrum), dated 11/1/16 stated that the new bulk services take effect 12/1/16. Since the new contract costs the Association more than the old contract, Ed Goff asked if the Association would be paying the new rate or the old rate for the month of December. The Board agreed to review the new 5-year contract to determine when it starts. Tom Falcone asked about the plans Spectrum may or may not have for eliminating the analog signals that we enjoy currently to feed secondary TVs without the cost of a cable box. Board members testified that the analog signals still work fine at their homes.
Neal Development: Some homeowners suspect that the construction of the new Tides End development behind Hawthorn Park's north pond may be downing trees not on their property. Pat said she would talk with someone at Neal Communities about the situation and a land survey.
Holiday Party: Peg announced that the Holiday Party will take place Friday, 12/16/16 at the Kolbe home on 91st Street. Details will be announced in a flyer that will be placed door-to-door. Peg requested help in setting it up!
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:55 p.m.
