Paula Carlino bionote

Paula has a Ph.D. in Psychology, though she has been happily "interdisciplined" over the years.

She works as Research Professor with the CONICET at the Institute of Linguistics of the University of Buenos Aires, where she leads the multidisciplinary team GICEOLEM (Group for an Inclusive and Quality Education by Taking Care of Reading and Writing in all Subjects). 

She has been teaching in different positions for more than 30 years, and as Full Professor at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional since 2015.

Among her books, Escribir, leer y aprender en la universidad. Una introducción a la alfabetización académica has been distinguished as Best Book in Education in 2005, and Lectura y escritura, un problema asunto de todos was declared of Educational Interest by the National Senate of Argentina in 2009.  She has co-edited Writing Programs Worldwide: Profiles of Academic Writing in Many Places  (with C. Thaiss, G. Bräuer, L. Ganobcsik-Williams and A. Sinha) published by The WAC Clearinghouse and Parlor Press. 

Her research interests comprise writing and reading to learn, WAC, WID, genre learning, teacher development, and graduate students' experiences regarding their thesis or dissertations. 

She has been named as a Distinguished Fellow of the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum at the 2021 International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference.
