Alexandre Takamatsu is a bio-engineer originally from Brazil. He now lives in the USA in a town south of Phoenix called Maricopa.
While in Brazil he worked for TECPAR which promoted appropriate technologies in southern Brazil close to the city of Curtiba which is famed because of its cutting edge planned strategies that lead many to consider it a leading Ecocity.
Takamatsu was just starting off his career at TECPAR Takamatsu when he had a chance to meet with George Chan of Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives and first found out about ZERI and Integrated Farming (aka Integrated Farming & Waste Management Systems). They worked together to develop several projects to promote Integrated Farming within the TECPAR region. He was the main coordinator of the effort between ZERI and TECPAR and manged the development of 6 projects in Parana state. In addition to the TECPAR joint venture with ZERI, there were also other IF&WMS projects; a total of 15 across Brazil.
After the ZERI-TECPAR partnership ended Takamatsu continued to work to develop IF in Parana. In fact he has continued his work to promote and develop solutions using IF approaches throughout his 20 year career at TECPAR, which just recently ended with his decision to move to the USA in April.
