A major goal of the EdenSpace Wiki Page is to simplify Arcology so that its easy for people to understand and what it potentially means for the world in the future. Paolo Soleri despite his many unique and important contributions to the environmental and sustainability movements, he was not known for explaining his ideas in ways that were easy and simple for people to understand.
Another goal is to consider practical ways (as in "Practical Arcology") that Paolo Soleri's Arcology vision could be developed and incorporated into existing best practices as part of a process to consider a movement towards what he termed the Lean Society. Paolo Soleri's inability to compromise and consider practical ways to move the Arcosanti project forward made it much more difficult to implement a working Arcology model.Â
Despite the obvious hang-ups mentioned above, Paolo Soleri Arcology work and vision has many compelling ideas. However there is a vital need to reformulate and repackage them into more coherent and pragmatic structures in order to enable their realization and keep Arcology relevant as a alternative to what now passes for mainstream reality.
The idea also is to have an alternative perspective on the meaning of the terms and concepts that Soleri developed as part of his Arcology theory so as to being to introduce a process for evolving his ideas and also to get other devoted and interested parties involved, besides official representatives of the Cosanti Foundation and their appointed experts.
In particular is a consideration of this idea of EdenSpace and how it connects Arcology with other ideas in the counter-cultural movement. Our ability to see the wisdom of what Soleri and many other green visionaries and leaders are doing and saying and to change the course of humanity will be determined first by getting the where-with-all to change our own lives. That is to somehow get the resources to implement the elements of his Arcology into reality as working models that we see relevant and connected to the very reason why many of us came to Arcosanti or were drawn to his ideas in the first place.
