What is the Problematique?
The Club of Rome became famous in some circles in the 70s by publishing a book called Limits to Growth by leading global environmentalists about some concerns about exponential economic and population growth and the implications on the ecology of the planet. Rapid changes associated with modernization have set in and they have had a dramatic impact on how we live our lives. Many are important such as the ability to cure diseases, empower humanity through improved technologies and making our food supplies more stable. We now have the potential to do more than ever before and yet we also have greater capacities to do great harm to ourselves and to nature than ever before in our history.
