At oneVillage we considered a holistic approach called oneVillage Initiative. This include a way of looking at community development that included six pillars (Integrated Knowledge Wheel) that is similar to Marx-Hubbard's in that she put forward a very holistic model of convergence and that could be seen as the basis for a sustainable model of development in relation to what I put forward above. See the image of INTEGRATED KNOWLEDGE WHEEL in this page and look at it carefully esp the image below it. It was an attempt to develop a holistic and integrated development model for using IT in emerging markets to leverage on the assets of a region or community and promote sustainable development. What we had proposed to do was similar to what Jeffrey Sachs has been put forward with his Millennium Villages project
Now what I am getting at here is that if you want to think about what is innovative its not about people who are good speakers and even good at advising or articulating a vision its people who are doing things that are BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER SO THAT THESE KINDS OF MODELS CAN BE REPLICATED ON A LARGE GLOBAL SCALE VERY RAPIDLY to ADDRESS THE UNPRECEDENTED WORLD URGENT ISSUES THAT WE NOW FACE AS A SPECIES.
