It has been said before that brushing alone isn’t enough to keep teeth and gums healthy. While individuals maybe brushing and flossing daily, getting the most out of the process depends on how well they do it.
Proper brushing takes at least two minutes and should be done in a circular motion to not hurt the gums with the usual up and down motion. Brush with fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day, preferably before breakfast and right before bedtime. Flossing can be done once a day, usually before hitting the sack. According to Dr. Kami Hoss, another key step in having proper oral care is limiting the number of snack times in a day. Most snacks contain sugar, which can be bad for one’s dental and overall health.
To get in the spaces between teeth, using an interdental brush or floss daily can do the job quite well. However, some areas of the mouth may be unreachable. Visiting the dentist twice a year ensures a patient that their teeth, gums, and tongue are in perfect shape. Dr. Kami Hoss, CEO of The Super Dentists in San Diego, says that rinsing with a restorative mouthwash keeps the breath fresh. In addition, rinsing with such keeps the teeth free form plaque and cavities, and the gums gingivitis-free. If a patient is unsure as to the best steps for them to experience perfect dental health, they should never hesitate to visit their dentist.
