Tooth decay is a serious problem among children and adults, not just in the United States, but the world over. While dental problems are not not prioritized by some, they could be as serious as other chronic infectious diseases. Tooth decay can cause discomfort and infections that can hinder comfort in eating, playing, and speaking.

Maintaining good oral health depends on food and drink intake. Changes in the mouth occur upon chewing and orally processing certain types of food. Oral bacteria converts carbohydrates to acids, which attack the teeth’s enamel, causing the decay. The more people snack, the bigger the chances of exposure to tooth decay.
Many people neglect the powers of drinking water. It is the healthiest drink around, and it gives a lot of health benefits, including a healthier set of pearly whites. Water has fluoride, a mineral that strengthens the tooth’s enamel. Water is also a good way to cleanse the mouth, because it washes away cavity-causing residue. It dilutes acids that are produced by the mouth. Another advantage of drinking water is that it helps produce saliva. Having dry mouth or running low on saliva may cause difficulty in swallowing and chewing. The saliva is also the mouth’s first line of defense against cavities.
