Diablo Weavers Guild meets once a month, September through June.
September, December and June we meet at a member's home.
Our next meeting will be at Lillian's
September 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM
We will have our annual "Share your summer" and swap/sale.
Meetings are usually on the Third Friday of the month
at the Thurman Casey Library in Walnut Creek.
New members and guests are always welcome.

Of special interest this month is an article by Vilija on the Treadles to Threads site about an interesting table Jacquard lo0m that she is restoring. Scroll down on the Treadles to Threads site for details about the history of this loom and how it works.

Intricate work on a purse by Vilija Deutschman of Clayton will be among the work exhibited.
Workshop on "Dyeing Machine Knitted Silk for Weaving"
in Albany with Nancy Roberts is Sun, Sept. 26 (10 - 12:30).
This workshop is sponsored by Golden Gate Weavers and has a couple of spaces left. The workshop fee is $40 with a $25 fee for each knitted blank of 20/2 silk provided by Nancy.

To Dye For features over 50 textiles and costumes from the Fine Arts Museums’ comprehensive collection of textiles from Africa, Asia and the Americas. A truly cross-cultural presentation, the exhibition showcases objects from diverse cultures and historical periods.

I am writing on behalf of San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design. We are reaching out to local textiles vendors, artists and guilds about our exciting upcoming exhibition, “Fashioning Felt." Organized by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, this exhibition will be on display from October 2010 to February 2011. It features various uses of felt, from product design to fashion, architecture and home furnishings. We would like your help in spreading the word to your textiles community. An update from Stan Goodman:
Re: Margaret Goodman's weaving equipment and supplies.
At this point, in spite of already disposing of large quantities, I still have an enormous amount of yarn remaining in several cupboards around the house. Also, I still have the 48" 1951 Gilmore Loom (4 Harness 6 Treadles) and bench which I have mixed feelings about selling, though I would accept a reasonable offer by an enthusiastic buyer who promises to give it a good home. In addition, there is a ball winder, a spool rack, a couple of niddy-noddys, a variety of shuttles and a number of small tools and books on weaving and spinning.
I have been selling the yarn at $5/pound. Asking $1000 or best offer for the Loom and Bench; $5 for the ball winder; $15 for the spool rack; $5 for the nidddy-noddys; $5-$10 for the shuttles of various sizes and the small tools.
If it is possible for you to conveniently remind the local weaving community of the continued availability of the above items, that would be very helpful and once again much appreciated by me.
