March 12-20:

Creative Textile Adventure

focuses on textile workshops with rural partner artisans.

Topics include but not limited to natural dyes, warp ikat, backstrap weft brocade, and embroidery. We want to include special interests, so please let us know.

This portion includes visits/stays in Antigua, San Antonio Aguas Calientes, Sumpango, Chichicastenango, and Lake Atitlán (several villages).

$1950 per person.

March 19-25:

The Quetzal Adventure

takes us truly off the beaten path to visit partner weavers in a lush cloud forest region of Guatemala.

This adventure features rural villages, colorful markets, homecooked regional specialties in weavers’ homes, and breath-taking nature. Visits/stays include Antigua, Cobán and its surroundings (2+ villages), Semuc Champey, and hopefully some quetzal sightings.

$1750 per person.

Minimum 4 participants for each itinerary. Sign-up with $150 deposit.

Mari Gray was born in Guatemala and considers the country one of her homes. She grew up loving textiles next to her mother, a fiber artist. She is working on her MSc in Sustainable Development, and is committed to finding a beneficial path for both rural communities and international creatives / visitors. She is the founder of KakawDesigns,an artisanmade brand that partners with rural textile groups in Guatemala.
