Meeting notes of May 17, 2013

President Carol Causey opened the meeting.

Vilija Deutschman gave the Treasurer's Report.

CNCH: Joan Anderson reminded everyone to look at the class requirements for homework, required tools, materials fees, etc. A reminder that there will be a Tailgate Sale on Friday at the conference.

The next meeting will be on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Vilija's home. The meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. There will be a potluck luncheon, please bring a dish to share. For our program, Lillian will bring 20 years of Fine Threads binders.

Tui's draw loom will be going to a good home at Reba Siero's! She also has a box of books/magazines to give away. A donation to the guild would be appreciated.

From Susie Hodges: Last year Golden Gate Weavers had a display at EBMUD. This year their work will be on display at the Tilden Farm Visitors Center from April 30 through September 1, 2013. She had a card with details. Please sign the guest book and comment "great show"!

There will be a bead bazaar at the Oakland Convention Center on Saturday only.

Calif. College of the Arts will be offering a class on computer jacquard weaving. For more information, go to their website at www.cca.edu, or call them at 510-594-3710.

There is a traveling origami exhibit in Sacramento at the Crocker Museum. It is called "Folding Paper: The Infinite Possibilities of Origami". This show opens June 30 and runs through September 29, 2013.

Will Taylor - next Saturday, May 25, will be Spinning at the Winery, at Retzlaff Winery in Livermore.

Lillian's Hand bell choir will have a concert on Sunday, May 26 at 3 p.m. The concert is free, donations accepted.

After the sharing the meeting broke for refreshments.

When we regrouped our speaker, Lou Grantham, from San Francisco Fibers, 3711 Grand Ave., Oakland gave a talk and demonstration on Warping to Weave.

She showed us her time saving techniques she developed during her time as a production weaver.
