General Policy for the Wall Exhibit

Century Camera Club - Gallery Rails Project

2015-2016

Purpose:

The purpose of this initiative is to provide members with an opportunity to exhibit their photographs, thereby increasing the visibility of the Camera Club within Century Village and hopefully attracting new members.

Project Manager

John Rothkopf will act as Project Manager. John is responsible for managing all aspects of this project and will be our official liaison with the Staff Office. Please communicate any concerns with respect to the submission, selection, placement or removal of photographs to John, not the Staff Office.

Selection of Exhibits:

All members in good standing of the Century Camera Club will be allowed to exhibit. The exhibits will be rotated monthly during the winter season in order to showcase the work of as many Club members as possible.

The following outlines how decisions will be made on which photographs will be displayed and n what order.

• Space and weight requirements have limited the maximum number of photographs to fourteen (14).

• Each member will be limited to one photograph unless fewer than fourteen have been

submitted.

• The opening exhibition each season will consist of the Best of Show and first place winners of the previous Art Expo. If there are too many photographs in that category tobe exhibited all a once a decision on which ones to hang will be made by lottery.

• The second exhibition will consist of any first place winners that were not displayed inthe first exhibit plus a selection of photographs submitted by the membership at large. Again, a lottery will determine selection if too many requests are received.

• Those that were not chosen on prior exhibitions will have priority over any newer entrants. Again, a lottery will determine selection if too many requests are received.

• First time exhibitors will have priority.

• The final exhibition of the season will remain on display until a new set of photographs can be exhibited the following autumn.

• Neither COOCVE nor the Camera Club can be held responsible for any loss or damage to any photograph. Members who exhibit do so at their own risk.

Submission of Photographs:

On a date to be determined, members desiring to exhibit a photograph must advise the Wall Exhibition Committee in writing of their intention to exhibit. Once informed that their have been chosen, members are responsible for providing the Committee with their photographs in accordance with the following rules:

The ideal sizes of the photographs, including the mat and frame, shall range from 8"X10"

(minimum) to 16"X 20" (maximum).

• The photographs submitted shall be framed and equipped with a wire for hanging.

• Frames shall be simple.

• The cost of framing shall be the responsibility of the exhibitor.

On the back of each photograph, the photographer will include the following information:

• The name of the photographer

• Contact information (telephone or email)

• Title of the photograph

The Display:

The Project Manager will prepare a display card for each photograph with:

• The photographer’s name

• The title of the photograph

• The prize, if any, awarded to the photograph; e.g. First place, Nature, Intermediate

The Project Manager will have a permanent plaque prepared to identify the exhibit as being that of the members of the Century Camera Club.

Responsibility for Hanging the Photographs:

The Project Manager will make arrangements for Staff Office personnel to hang the photographs that are selected by the “Wall Exhibition Committee.” The Staff Office requires at least 72 hours notice of our intent to rotate the exhibit so members will be required to respect the deadline announced for submission of their photos.
