How To Prepare Photos for the Annual Photo Art Expo

Printing of Photo

* Familiarize yourselves with the rules for the Photo Art Expo (attached)

* Photos are often printed at Costco (offers the best deal for the money)

* Other locations include Walmart or Walgreens. These are more expensive and the quality may not be as good.

* Costco locations that print on-site: Congress and Lantana

o You may bring a photo on a memory stick to Costco and wait for the photo to be printed, or;

o Using the Costco web site, (Costco.com) download photo and order the printing on-line. Pick-up at Lantana or Congress.

Supplies

* Foam core board (16x20 inches).

* Mats (16 x 20 inches) with an opening of 11 x 14 inches or larger

* Artist tape (best); masking tape; double sided tape; Blue Dots

* Foam core, mats and tape may be purchased at:

o Jerry’s Artarama (Federal Hwy and Hillsboro, Deerfield Beach) or on line at Jerry’s Artarama.com. Jerry’s in-store price is about $30 for 5 mats.

o Amazon.com sells mats very cheaply. For example, 25 precut mats from Golden State Art will cost $35.99. These can be purchased in black or white. (Subscribers of Prime get free delivery)

o Michaels (stores or online). Mats are much more expensive than Jerry’s or Amazon.

If affixing a photo using a mat:

* On the reverse side of the mat, center the photo, then tape the back of the two top corners of your photo to the mat, (artist tape is the best because it comes off). If you do not tape the two bottom corners the photo is less likely to buckle.

* Using artist tape, tape the mat to the foam core

* Ensure your name and the title of the photograph are on the reverse of the mat

If affixing a photo directly to the foam board (without a mat):

* Trim the photo so that the white edge is the same all around

* Once photograph is centered, glue photo to the foam core using double sided tape or Little Blue Dots (available at Michaels)

* Ensure your name and title are written on the reverse
