2006, 2007 and 2008 our OA Chapter’s service project has been for the residents at the Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. We collected items and prepared Gift Bags for the Veteran residents in the home. We were able to collect enough items to fill over 206 gift bags last year (prior years were 160 and 85). This year we’ll package the gifts items in a different way. Will sort them by category and keep them together by type to deliver to the VA Home. The staff at the Va Home will prepare resident specific gift bags at a later time. We’ll meet at 8:30am at the VA Home’s “Pavilion” which is on the left as you drive into Richard Michael Campbell VA Home. We’ll sort the items by category and box them or bag them at the Pavilion. After we deliver the gifts, we’ll tour the facility and visit with the residents and thank them for their service to our country. Afterwards we’ll have a “Free” Cookout and Chapter meeting at the Pavilion at the VA Home around 11:30am. Please promote this service project within your Troop, Cub Scout Packs, school and community. Invite all who are interested in honoring our Veterans who unselfishly served our country! If you can’t come on the 7th, please try to give your donations to another Chapter member to bring. Wear Class A with OA sash. We should be finished by 1:00pm. See attachment for the list of gift needs.

From Belton: Take Hwy 76/178 towards Anderson Go 5 to 7 miles outside of Belton. If extreme weather prevents us from being outside?: Our back-up for bad weather is to meet first meet at Neals Creek Baptist Church’s activity building to sort items then drive to VA Home. Neals Creek BC is located at 3204 Amity Road Ext. Anderson, SC 29621.
