2008 was the Year of Ca Nu Pa

Ca Nu Pa had a very successful year. All of our achievements culminated in the winning of Atta Kulla Kulla's Chapter of the Year. Here is a list of some of our accomplishments:

    • Initiated ideas learned from 2008 LLDC.

    • Chapter Goals were prepared and printed on Chapter Agendas that were on Ca-Nu-Pa Web Site and monthly e-mail newsletters (See multiple monthly Ca-Nu-Pa Newsletters enclosed).

    • Key Goals were to grow of Chapter and Lodge participation. Focus was on new 2008 Ordeal inductees. Added cookout and moved indoor meetings to the outdoors with activities.

    • Significantly increased Chapter participation during 2008 by changing monthly meeting formats and encouragement for participation at all lodge events and section events.

    • Planned Chapter meetings to include Outdoor activities including the first Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter Annual Retreat over a weekend at Camp Buc.

    • Added two “active” Chapter officers: Vice Chief and Secretary.

    • Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter(s) Officers attended and spoke at 100% of six and twenty District Scoutmaster Round tables to promote value of OA to Troops since August 2008.

    • Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter attended 100% of ECM’s and lodge functions.

    • New committees were formed with youth and adult chair and co-chairs. See enclosure committee assignment, chapter agendas, and website. Focus is on goals of lodge and to promote the OA

    • Service Project #1

      • Annual Chapter Service Project (the weekend before Veterans Day) – Veterans Nursing Home Gift Bags - Ca-Nu-Pa increase awareness to the project which increased number of gift bags and participations from previous years for the Resident Veterans in Richard Michael Campbell Nursing Home. Doubled participation from prior year.

      • 2006: 85 gift bags , 2007: 165 gift bags, 2008: 220+ gift bags

    • Service Project #2

      • Dec 2008 - Collected donations and gifts and delivered as chapter to a Scouting family in need

    • Sponsored Spring Camporee to help fulfill camp promotion obligation: Sponsored 2008 Spring Camporee for 6 & 20 District which included Long Cane District. Twelve troops with over 169 participants were in attendence from two Districts.

    • Promoted OA through Ordeal Elections. OA elections were held at Spring Camporee for Troop that requested elections. Presented video and held elections for: Troop 5, Troop 53 (Long Cane District), Troop 94, Troop 97, Troop 215, Troop 280, and Troop 992.

    • Added a new Committee to work on Outdoor Camping promotion and local where to go camping guide.
