Local Order of Arrow Chapter, BSA --- Receives
2008 Chapter of the Year Award
GREENVILE, SC (Feb.7, 2009) --- The Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow, Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge 185 presented the 2008 Chapter of the Year award to the Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter at the Lodge's Annual Awards Banquet last Saturday. The Ca-Nu-Pa chapter is comprised of selected youth and adults from Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews located in Anderson County, SC, Six and Twenty District of the Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge is comprised of eight Chapters that serve over 19,000 youths in 10 upstate counties in South Carolina.
Pictured are a number of the Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter members that attended the Lodge Leadership Development Conference and Banquet on Saturday. The Ca-Nu-Pa Chapter leadership includes Johnny Culwell, Chapter Chief, Troop 97 (far left, front row), Derrick Brown, Vice Chief, Troop 20 (in attendance, but not pictured), and David Buchanan, Chapter Secretary, Troop 215 (3rd from left, 2nd row). The Adult Advisors are Darrell Green, Chapter Advisor, Troop 5 (2nd from Rt, back row) and Van Cason, Associate Chapter Advisor, Troop 5 (2nd from Rt, 2nd row). Anderson County BSA Troops 5, 20, 97, and 215 had Order of Arrow members participating throughout the day and evening.
The Order of Arrow (OA) is the Boy Scouts of America national honorary society. OA candidates are selected annually by fellow Scouts from their troops or crews who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Inducted members obligate themselves to a mission of leadership of unselfish service to others. The Order of Arrow was first introduced into the Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America, at Camp Old Indian located in Travelers Rest, SC, in the summer of 1940. The OA is responsible for delivering the BSA report to the President of the United States and Congress each year.
