Poetry Flip Book

Throughout the 4th quarter students have been putting together a flip book of useful Poetry terms and poems to take with them to 7th grade. These are terms and concepts that they will see again in future grade levels and it is critical to start building the foundation in order to ensure future success in the higher level learning classes.

The book is due in final no later than the last day of school 5/22/19

Requirements

-19 word boxes of the poetry definitions from Allusion to Refrain in the attachment below. See example box also attached below

- Students will copy 4 stanzas of the example Ode. See attachment for example given to the class

-Students will compose 4 stanzas of their own Ode (two stanzas describing the person, place, thing or idea and two stanzas stating why it is important to the student) Each stanza needs to be 3 lines or more.

-Students will select 2 example Haikus to copy. See attachment for examples

-Students will compose one Haiku

-Students will copy one complete Sonnet. See attachment for examples given in class

-Students will copy one complete Free Verse poem. See Attachment for examples given in class

-Students will compose one Free Verse poem of at least two stanzas and each stanza must have at least three lines.
