Orcas Pear

Orcas Pear

The seeding of the Orcas Pear was discovered by Joe Long, a farmer on Orcas Island. The tree was officially introduced in 1986. The fruit is smooth and sweet and is great for both canning and drying. The fruit ripens in early or mid-September, and the tree blooms in April. The Orcas Pear is known as very disease resistant.
