Tree #37: Nijisseiki Asian Pear

Tree #37 was planted in 2010 along with Tree 36 and 54, the only other Nijisseiki Asian Pears in the orchard. The Nijisseiki Asian Pear (Pyrus Pyrifolia “Nijisseiki") is the best known variety of Asian Pear. It is also called the 20th Century Pear. The fruit has a green-yellow skin with a smooth texture. The flesh is white, crisp, and juicy. The fruit are usually of medium size, and ripen in mid-September. The tree blooms in early spring and produces white flowers.
