Tree #45: Desert King Fig

Trees 45 and 62 are the only two Desert King Figs in the Orchard, and both were planted in 2013. The Desert King Fig was found in 1930 near Modera, California. The fruit of the Desert King is very sugary with pink flesh. The tree has large leaves and is known for being very cold resistant. Though Figs usually have to ripening cycles–one in around July and one around September–in the Northwest they only ripen once, usually in August.
