Tree #61: Northern Spy Apple

Tree 61 was planted in 2013, along with the only other Northern Spy Apple, tree 61. The Northern Spy apple was first created by Oliver Chapin, a farmer in Rochester, New York, in the early 1840’s. The Northern Spy apple has very high vitamin C levels and is such often used for cooking, juicing, and eating fresh. The fruit thrives in temperate climates and is capable of surviving harsh and cold winters. The Northern Spy is typically picked in late October or early November and used throughout the winter, holding into the spring.
