The Skjonnemand family

In the 1880s three brothers and a sister immigrated to Australia from Denmark.

They were: Peter Lauritsen Skjonnemand, Jens Peter Lauritsen Skjonnemand,  Oline (Lena) Skjonnemand and Valdemar (Walter) Lauritzen Skjonnemand

They settled on Queensland's southern Darling Downs at Emu Vale, Yangan, Warwick and Upper Freestone Creek.

Peter Lauritsen Skjonnemand was naturalised in 1898 and married a fellow Danish immigrant, Marie Frederikke Jorgensen in 1903.

The couple ran a share farm at Emu Vale and had four children: Elmer Frederick Lauritsen (who married Bertha), Louis Oliver, Vera Adeline, and Doris Anetta.

Jens was naturalised in 1890 and married Johanne Katherine Olsen. The couple had two children: Johanne Catherine Victoria and Olga Laurentsia.

Lena married a Mr Bocher and they had two children: Karl Ludwig and Wilhelmine Christina Magdalena.

Valdemar returned to Denmark about 12 years after his arrival in Australia.
