Bertha and her siblings loved to visit Granny Sarah in Warwick.
Granny would tell the story of how she and Grandfather Abraham travelled in a covered wagon from Armidale to Warwick in the late 19th century.
"I can still see it in my mind," says Bertha.
"It was only a plank of timber on a couple of boxes.
"That's where we sat and heard our life histories, outside Grandma's kitchen door."
Bertha, Linda, Lawrie and Betty also liked to 'swim' in Granny Sarah's dams although they were only several inches deep.
"She had… I think it was seven dams on the property and we used to... lie on our tummies and kick our legs and wave our arms and think we were swimming."
