Life at Labrador

After the death of her husband Elmer, Bertha moved to Labrador.

The Algona Street house had a pool and vegetable patch that included pawpaw trees, banana trees, passionfruit, chokos and strawberries.

Bertha lived at Algona Street for more than 20 years, during which time she was an active member of the local Uniting Church and Order of the Eastern Star, played indoor bowls, always attended her local grandchildren's concerts and competitions and volunteered at the Blue Nurses 'op shop'.

For about eight years, she also helped her daughter-in-law Trish with her curtain-making business.

On weekends Bertha's children and grandchildren came to her home to visit.

This is a home video of one such typical weekend.
