Training

Villages AV Tech is a service organization whose members volunteer their services to resident performing arts groups, (including theatrical, dance, vocal, instrumental, talent shows, etc). To meet the needs of those groups, the club also provides FREE training and certification of residents for use of theatrical sound and lighting equipment at the Regional Recreation Centers for resident productions. This training is intended to prepare individuals for the safe operation of AV equipment and for the proper care of the Recreation Department's equipment.

Training sessions will be provided on a per request basis and will be tailored to the specific needs of the individual based on each student's previous experience. For those residents without previous experience, the club will provide more extensive training, which encompasses several sessions with opportunities for mentoring, shadowing, and an apprenticeship with lots of "hands-on" experiences at rehearsals and perhaps even live performances leading to certification. A special program called, "Just in Time" training, will be made available to those residents who need it to volunteer their services for a specific upcoming show at a specific Regional Recreation Center.

The menu item on this Website, "Reference Documents", contains the equipment manuals for the sound and light boards used at the regional recreation centers.

Those who have had previous audi- visual experience on this or similar equipment should be able to become certified at a specific recreation center in a single session.
