Fuel Level Gauge

Set your meter to the ohm setting, and test at fuel pump connector(clean/protect that ground while you are there as well).

• • up through 1964 - 0-30Ω (Doesn't apply to our vans, but worth knowing)

  • ~1965-1997 - 0-90Ω (0Ω empty – 90Ω full)

  • ~1997 & up - 40-250Ω (40Ω empty - 159Ω half – 250Ω full) or 250-40Ω (some of these are reversed depending on the year/model/sender and are actually 250-40Ω senders where 250Ω is empty and 40Ω is full..)

Check the level reported by the VCM/PCM on the newer vans using your scan tool. If both are inaccurate you are looking at something wrong with the sender/wiring/connections/etc between the float and the PCM/VCM.
