Rust

Automotive rust is caused by the oxidation of the iron based metal they use in our vehicles. Everything eventually corrodes, but depending on the makup of the material, protective measures taken, and the conditions that it's subjected to will determine how fast and far it progresses. Once it starts it will continue until taken care of or until everything is converted to iron-oxide.
