Woody was an experiment to make a compact computer housing. At the time I lived at my parents and I had 2 systems; 1 for gaming and 1 for emails, social media (MSN & IRC) and downloading stuff. Target was to minimize the footprint of the second PC. I made it in 2002 or 2003 and was replaced by Plexi in 2004.
I used thin wood (multiplex) to create a basis for the electronics. The optical- and disk-drives were underneath the motherboard. The result was compact and light, however the wood I used was to flimsy to screw it together and heath dissipation proved almost non-existing, which was bad for the hard drive.
Optical and disk drive are part of the bottom tray. The Hard drive was placed behind the disk drive, also in the bottom tray.
The wood to close the bottom compartment carries the motherboard including the expansion boards. The power supply is placed to the right. The whole construction is light weight and compact. The idea was to close it off using holed wood for fan placement.
