Zombies!!!

Intro

I discovered the board game 'Blood Rage' on Kickstarter. I could not resist it and pledged the base amount. Several months later I received it and really liked the game and its miniatures. It caused me to check Kickstarter more often and see many good looking games with very nice miniatures. I was also confronted with painted miniatures, which I liked. Several months (and kickstarter pledges) later I decided to try out if painting miniatures is something I might like.

I chose Zombies!!! for the try-out, as the game is rather cheap and the miniatures are small (I learned this is a disadvantage).

Experiences

I liked it as it forced me to rest.
It takes a lot of time to paint miniatures.
My girlfriend did not like it and could not bring up the needed patience.
Simply giving each part of the miniature, like clothing, a colour already makes the mini more interesting. However, this is hardly a result you want to show somebody.
Painting it better (more interesting/beautiful) costs even more time, much more time.
On YouTube you can find about everything concerning 'painting miniatures'.
It can be challenging to think of a nice colour pattern.
While paint is rather cheap, the brushes are expensive and do not last very long.
Brush-priming is bad for the brush, use an old brush!
Light colours are much harder than dark colours as light colours need more layers. Therefore I do not understand why some painters use black primer.
Skin is almost impossible to paint realistically. Even zombie skin is hard.
Painting many (tens of) the same model is tedious. I stopped painting after I did about 50 zombies, I went to the next miniatures.
