Eventually, in 2012, after enough LAN parties carrying the huge Koolinators, 5.1/2" drives were hardly used anymore, most HDDs were moved to my NAS and two power supplies proved to be unnecessary, I decided to aim for a minimised case size. The challenge was to keep all cooling power and thus be able to place the watercooling components (most important and difficult is normally the radiator, or the pump w.r.t. vibrations).
I replaced it rather quick, in 2014.
List of modifications:
The initial plan was to mount the case on a stand, with the radiator mounted on the stand. Unfortunately this made the case either way larger and was a risk with the water tubes.
As alternative for the stand I decided to mount the case on feet, with the radiator mounted in the bottom.
This was the result, massive cooling power with hardly any space lost.
Inserting the electronics hardware, looks very clean, but were to place the pump and the hard drive?
As the feet proved to be unstable, I moved the rad to the top side.
The final result. I later glued the front brackets fixed. Tight case, but no eye catcher.
