The next game with miniatures I wanted to paint was Flashpoint. We got it some years ago and liked playing it, because the base game it easy to understand we have more possibilities to play it. I wanted to paint them so others can see what I'm up to. I mostly used the cheap action paints and some Liquitex paints.
I used the game art for reference. Unfortunately the art uses yellow fireman but were I live they have mainly black clothing. Since the game was bought by my girlfriend, I let her choose the colours. She chose black. While I can understand why she chose it, it still is a very unsuitable for base colouring. Red and yellow colours hardly cover it. I had to improvise a lot and think of nice contrasting colours.
During this project I started to see that the bad spray primer was really influencing my end result. The fireman on the left was primered by brush while the one on the right was spray primered. This picture clearly shows that the model on the left has a much smoother surface. This also has effect on the wash as it does not end up in the recesses, which is visable on the helmet.
Since it concerns a single team of firefighters with largely comparable clothing, I used the same colours on practically all minis.
