Virginia Mountains

Ever wonder what the tallest mountains in Virginia are?  That's a tough question to answer and one that has no definitive answer. First you must decide what prominence you are going to set for your list.  If I set prominence at 10 feet then the tallest 50 peaks in Virginia would probably be every point of rock sticking up around Mount Rogers and Whitetop.  If I set prominence at 100 feet, I still wind up with small peaks scattered around Mount Rogers and Whitetop that make the list as well as several peaks that only knobs along high chain mountains - with several "high point" peaks along the same ridge.  I believe that to call something a "mountain" it should stand out from the peaks around it by at least 1,000 feet.
