Ruth A. Mosbey Memorial Books

Yesterday was a special day for Grant Elementary Library.  Some family members of the late Ruth A. Mosbey visited to take pictures with the books recently donated to the library in Ruth's memory.

I have waited to display the books for check out until we could take pictures with the family.  This is a very generous donation to the library and it deserves special recognition!  Seeing Ruth's daughter, granddaughter, granddaughter-in-law, and four great-grandchildren look at all the books purchased in her memory was a special sight to behold.  One of Ruth's great-granddaughters checked out three of the books before she went home. It may take a few days for her to read all 97 books, but we know she'll do it!  That's why I made this resource list of all the books so that we can easily identify the donated books.

According to Ruth's daughter, Brenda, Ruth was always by her grandchildren's side to help them with their school work.  That's because Ruth loved her grandchildren dearly and also knew the value of a good education.  In hindsight, Ruth had acknowledged that she probably would have enjoyed being a teacher.

Yes, I'm sure Ruth would have loved being a teacher, or perhaps even a teacher-librarian.  I'm certain it's one of the best, most blessed jobs in existence.  I get the best of both worlds.  It will be a pleasure and my honor to see Ruth's love for children and learning live on through the joy these books will bring to so many children.

So thank you again to Brenda, her dad, and sister for selecting such wonderful books in memory of their beloved mom and wife.  What a wonderful gift to give.
