Book Fair at Grant 4/7-4/11

Grant Elementary Library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair April 7 - 11. It is a buy one, get one free event!
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday -- 7:45 – 9:45 a.m. & 3 – 3:40 p.m.
Monday April 7 -- 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 10 -- 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Parents –
Here are some tips and suggestions that might help to ensure a successful book fair:
- Remind your child to check-in with their classroom teacher before stopping by the book fair in the mornings. PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST!
- There is a variety of merchandise for sale at Scholastic book fairs:
- Items listed in the flier that was sent home are just a small sampling of the hundreds of items available.
- Little stuff (erasers, bookmarks, pencils, pens, pointers) ranges anywhere from 50¢ - $5.00
- There may be a few paperback books that are only $2-$3, but the average price of a paperback is $5 - $6.
- Hardbacks are an average of $12.
- Posters are $4.50 - $5
- Activity kits are an average of $6
- If you don't feel comfortable sending money to school with your child, the book fair will be open right before and after school and also two evenings during the week. Please see our hours above.
- If you do send money to school with your child:
- Consider sending it in an envelope that is marked 'book fair' (sometimes it is mistaken for lunch money, or vice versa)
- Make checks payable to Albia Schools and write 'book fair' in the memo line
- Count the money with your child before you send it so he or she knows how much money they have. Remind them to keep their money in their pocket/purse/wallet until they pay, so they don't drop it and lose it.
- Explain to your child what kinds of items you want them to buy.
- Explain to your child who they should buy things for (in the past, some students have convinced others to buy things for them)
