Iowa Book Awards include fiction and nonfiction titles that have a wide range of subjects and reading levels. These are sponsored by the IASL, or Iowa Association of School Librarians.
Goldfinch Award books for grades K-2.
Iowa Children's Choice Award books for grades 3-6.

National Children's Book Awards
Caldecott Medal is awarded for outstanding illustrations.
Coretta Scott King Award is given to African American authors and illustrators for their outstanding books about African Americans.
Newbery Medal is awarded for outstanding stories.
Pura Belpre Award is given to Latino/Latina authors and illustrators for their outstanding books about the Latino culture.
Sibert Informational Book Medal is awarded for outstanding informational books
Theodore Seuss Geisel Award is given to outstanding books for beginning readers.

Alex Awards - to books originally written for adults but that have special appeal to young adults.
Best Books for Young Adults - annual list of books that are deemed to be great reads for young adults
Great Graphic Novels for Teens - annual list of recommended graphic novels (comic-book style format)
Margaret A. Edwards Award - to honor an author and some of his/her works for the lasting contribution to writing for teens.
Michael L. Printz Award - to honor excellence in literature (well-written books) for young adults
Odyssey Award - to the best audio book produced for children and/or young adults
