A Dive Into The Mind

Preethika Pavirala

Hi! I’m Preethika Pavirala. In my free time, I love to spend time with friends and family, listen to music, and watch movies. Along with this, I spend a lot of time on Sangeetham, classical singing. My areas of interest include psychology, medicine, and wedding/event planning. In the future, I aspire to become a psychiatrist, because I love to work with people and find the human mind to be really intriguing.

Considering my wide range of likes and interests, there were many different paths that I could have taken for my Personal Project. Despite this, it felt clear to me that choosing my topic based on the psychiatry field was the best option. This is the topic that I am most passionate about and what I plan to use for the future, so I knew that I would enjoy the process and would also be able to use what I learn for many years to come.

I decided that in order to be able to create more of an impact, I would focus on uncommon conditions that most people would have not have heard of or seen. I chose to present this in the form of a blog because I enjoy writing and I knew that this product format would allow me to make multiple entries about different aspects of each condition.

Through this process, I was able to gain a variety of skills which helped me evolve as a person and as a learner. I was able to develop my research skills by conducting interviews and analyzing a variety of sources. My self management skills were worked on through focusing on managing my time and my state of mind. Through the two-way discussion in the interviews and the writing for the blog, I was able to improve my communication skills. On top of this, I had to majorly focus on my problem solving skills to make sure that process kept moving forward.
