About me:

Hello! My name is Yashaswi and I have written a book with the title “How do countries go from $0 to $20 Trillion?”. As the name suggests, the book is about the systems that are set up by governments in order to build & run their economy.

Why this project?

I chose this topic because economics is a subject that can be connected to real-life situations easily. I believe that economics is the answer to world problems such as poverty, terrorism and unemployment. Economics is an interdisciplinary subject that is the relationship between various fields of education such as Math, Science and Business Management. We can bring our knowledge into application in this subject. Economics is one such subject that helps us understand the world and how it really functions. I can learn about why governments take the economic decisions they do and how these decisions affect the economy.

Reflection:

This project has had a great impact on me as a learner. The first thing I learnt was how to research effectively and efficiently. Since the topic I chose is a diverse topic, I had to research for tens of hours to find information that was accurate and relevant. I used several sources that were both primary and secondary and I learnt the art of extracting as much information as possible from these sources. Research is the most important aspect of my project and thus I spent a lot of time on this. I was actually surprised with the information I got as there were many articles, blogs and interviews given by well known people in the economics field. After this, I also learnt the process of writing a nonfiction book. I have used the techniques of writing a book and these techniques gave a structure to my book and made my book more organized. By meeting the learning goal, I improved my IB learner profile communicator as through my book, I have communicated my knowledge, understanding and ideas in an effective way. The next IB learner profile I developed was ‘knowledgeable’. I have gained a lot of knowledge over the course of writing my book. I researched a lot and thus got a clear and vast understanding about the topic of economics. If I had the opportunity to start over the project, I would make my topic even more confined and narrowed as economics is an extremely vast topic.
