The final stage of the apprenticeship is the end-point-assessment (EPA). The EPA cannot start until the Apprentice has completed the taught element of the programme.
The Apprentice will only enter the gateway once the employer is content that the Apprentice is working at or above the occupational standard. In making this decision, the employer may take advice from the University (the Training provider), but the decision must ultimately be made solely by the employer.
In addition to the employer’s confirmation that the Apprentice is working at or above the level of the occupational standard, the Apprentice must have achieved English and mathematics Level 2 or equivalent.
CMI as the independent assessing organisation will determine when all gateway requirements have been met, and the EPA period will only start once CMI has confirmed this.
