What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding refers to the process, practice and culture embedded within an organisation to create a safe environment where children, young people and adults at risk are free from all forms of harm, abuse and neglect. Although safeguarding is typically aimed at children and young people (which would include apprentices aged 16-18), older people may also be vulnerable to abuse and exploitation and may also need supportive safeguarding mechanisms.
