Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the measures taken to protect individuals from maltreatment and abuse, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.
If you’re an apprentice aged 16–18, you are classed as a young person. Older apprentices may be classed as vulnerable adults in certain situations.
At The Sheffield College, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone — learners, staff, and members of the public who use our services. We take this responsibility very seriously.
Your employer also has a role in safeguarding where it’s needed. Even if you are not a young or vulnerable person, and you don’t work with children, it’s still important to understand safeguarding and the part you can play in it.
