If you have applied for the National Union of Students Totum card, you can present this to the bus driver to receive cheaper single fares (currently £1 per journey on either First or Stagecoach). Student single fare tickets may only be usable when travelling within the Sheffield region. 7 day and 28 day tickets may also be offered at discounted prices. Find out more at Travel South Yorkshire.
Please note that although The Sheffield College does provide all students with an identification card, this might not be accepted.
The Totum card cannot be used for discounted fares on the Supertram.
16-18 yr olds can apply for a 16-18 Travel Pass through Travel South Yorkshire which enables you to travel anywhere in South Yorkshire for 80p per journey.
18-22 yr olds may apply for a travel passes and TravelMaster smart cards to buy travel tickets at discounted prices. Go to Travel South Yorkshire for more information.
If you live outside of Sheffield and need to travel further to work or College, if you are under 25 you may be eligible for a 16-17 Saver Railcard or a 16-25 Young Person's Railcard which significantly reduces the price of train fares and tickets. You do need to pay an initial fee to purchase the railcard.
Whether you are eligible for a railcard or not, there are other ways you can reduce your train fares depending on how you plan your journey. You can find out more at Trainline.com
If you are able to drive, Save the student provides some tips on how you can save money on driving, such as by knowing where to find cheaper petrol prices.
Please be aware that due to very limited parking space, none of the The Sheffield College campuses are able to provide access to the car park for students. Students are encouraged to use public transport instead of find alternative parking.
