2024 - Year 9 Dean TBC

At St Hilda's Collegiate we aim to support, enrich and challenge all our Year 9 learners in their learning, as they transition between Primary or Intermediate, and Secondary School.

There are approximately 80 learners in the Year 9 cohort. One-third of these learners have completed Year 7 and 8 at St Hilda's, another third are new boarders, and the final third are new day students.  Each Year 9 learner has two buddies. This relationship begins at the Orientation Day, held in November of their Year 8 year. The buddy trio are in the same Whanaungatanga group, which helps to create a bond that will continue for the next five years.

The focus in Year 9 is on developing connections and building a sense of belonging. We encourage our learners to take positive risks with their learning, to be themselves and to be proud of what makes them unique. Learners take classes in Health, Integrated Studies, Languages, Mathematics, Music, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science, Technology,  and Visual Art. Many learners experience some of these subjects for the first time and find new passions and interests, both academic and extracurricular.
