Technology

Technology at Year 7 provides learners with the opportunity to design, test and develop their own technological outcomes in a range of contexts, including digital technologies, materials technology, design and visual communication and food technology. These contexts are combined to make a valuable, exciting and in-depth learning experience. 

Across the contexts, the learners will develop transferable skills, such as research, problem solving, technical skills, and computational thinking. This module leads into Year 8 Technology where technological and design knowledge is developed to a higher level.

• cyber-safety and digital citizenship

• learning how computers represent data

• using algorithms to solve computer problems

• learning computer programming 

• creating digital graphics

• developing techniques in hand-stitching 

• developing skills in concept drawing and construction

• safe practices in a kitchen environment

• practical food preparation skills
