Religious Education

The Year 9 programme further introduces students to key themes that are found in the six strands of the Anglican Schools' Curriculum. These are: The Bible and Jesus; Christian Doctrine and Worship; Church History; World Religions; Ethics, Morals and Values; Personal Faith and Philosophical Issues

In Year 9 each class begins with silent, private journaling as a spiritual practice - this will be done throughout the student's time at St Hilda's and all journals will be returned to the student in Y13 when she has the opportunity to reflect on her journey through her time here.

Course Focus

• investigating the Easter story as found in the gospels
• exploring the chapel and also the meaning of Eucharist in preparation for the Easter Eucharist service
• investigating the history and heritage of St Hilda's
• researching and presenting projects on inspirational women
• exploring prayer as a concept and spiritual practice
• learning how to navigate around the Bible as a library of books
• investigating the Christmas story as found in the gospels
• asking and responding to questions that explore simple ethics, morals, and values in a fun and safe way
