Te Reo Māori

Year 7 Te Reo Māori is made up of four modules designed to developing the students understanding of Māori Language and Tikanga.

Course Focus

• introduction to Te Reo Māori - focus is on pronunciation and a basic understanding of sentence structures
• understanding of Matariki (The Māori New Year) - focus is on researching and exploring traditional and contemporary events and creations
• Te Reo Māori for beginners - focus is on pronunciation, understanding and using various sentence structures in relation to Maui’s fish (Te Ika a Maui), Māori mythology and Māori place names
• exploration of Te Ao Māori - focus is on exploring the natural elements, weather and taonga puoro (Māori musical instruments)
