Technology

Technology at Year 7 provides students with the opportunity to design, test and develop their own technological outcomes in two unique contexts. The Technology course consists of two main modules: Textile Design and Digital Technologies. These contexts are combined to make a valuable, exciting and in-depth learning experience.

• In Digital Technologies, the students learn to design, plan, program and test a computer game, complete with their own graphics.
• In Textile Design, the students learn to design and create their own soft toy which includes eTextile components, such as sensors and LEDs.

Across the two contexts, the students will develop transferable skills, such as research, problem solving, technical skills, and computational thinking. This module leads into Year 8 Technology where technological and design knowledge is developed to a higher level.

• developing techniques in hand-stitching and fabric manipulation
